Another Southeastern Indiana veteran will be honored as the Hometown Hero at the Cincinnati Reds game this weekend.

1971 Cutlass S

Adam Geis, Xenia, Ohio, won Best of Show with his 1971 Cutlass S at the Rising Sun Shiner Pride Car Show Sunday, July 10. Over 400 vehicles were entered for this show's 20th anniversary, at which former Rising Sun High School band director Ron Eads announced his retirement as car show coordinator.

An unassuming white brick building stands on Fourth Street between High and Walnut streets in Rising Sun. While the two-story building appears historic, its past is difficult to read for the average passerby.

Christopher Hiett

Christopher Hiett, 23, Harrison, Ohio, is being charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor after a crash Friday, July 1, in which he and three passengers, including two young children, were injured, said Ohio County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Chad Oakes.

4-H Fair season is upon us and Ohio County 4-H has some outstanding youth who are representing 4-H as the 4-H Fair Royalty Court during the county fair. The fair started Friday, June 24, and continues through Saturday, July 2, at the Ohio County 4-H Fairgrounds in Rising Sun.

The Ohio County Soil and Water Conservation District recently decided to honor three of the members who have passed away.

During one of the board meetings, Katie Schulz decided the members should plant trees at the Ohio County Fairgrounds in memory of deceased members Wade Turner, Paul Banta and Gordon Ramsey.
