Over 75 percent of Ohio County’s population was immunized by the Sabin oral vaccine Sunday at the first of three programs scheduled by the Dearborn-Ohio County Medical Society. At the Rising Sun station, 2,429 persons received the vaccine and it was estimated by the station chairman, Mrs. J. L. Paras, that several more Ohio County people received the vaccine at the Dillsboro station.
Elwyn Blodgett, senior grand champion, and Albert Allen Detmer, junior grand champion, will represent Switzerland County in the District tractor operator contest Aug. 13 in Madison. Grand champions from each district will compete in the Indiana State Fair contest in August. Albert Allen will be shooting for his third state fair trip. He placed second in the state last year.
Mason J. Uhlmansiek tied for first place in picture-editing of high school annuals at the year-book division of Indiana University High School Journalism Institute on that campus last week. Uhlmansiek is the photographer of the Rising Sun annual for next year. Bill Buchanan, editor of the annual, also attended.

Births: to Mr. and Mrs. Thom Delp Dunlavy, a son, Andrew Delp, August 1; to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Foster, a daughter, August 1 in Dearborn County Hospital; to Mr. and Mrs. Dale McCann, a daughter, Aug. 3. Mr. McCann is co-publisher of the Dearborn County Register.
