Rising Sun High School Band Director Ron Ead's retirement, effective Friday, July 31, has left school officials scrambling to interview candidates for the position with school starting the following week.

The Ohio County Animal Shelter doesn’t “paws” when it comes to adopting out animals.

A no-kill shelter, the facility has seen over 392 dogs placed in the past year, said animal control officer Rhonda Vinup, an Ohio County resident.

Morning storms lowered the attendance at the 19th annual Shiner Pride Car Show, but no rain fell during the remainder of the show which drew 223 entries.

“Overall, I was very pleased with the turnout,” said Ron Eads, Rising Sun High School band director. The show benefits the band.

It's puppy and kitten time at the Red Wolf Sanctuary just outside Rising Sun. But don't look for domestic varieties. The newest residents are gray wolf puppies and bobcat kittens.

CARMEL, Ind. - Rising Sun's first-ever Indiana All-Star softball player, Alix DeDreu, saw actions in both ends of the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association's North-South All-Star Classic doubleheader Saturday.
