The 2012 high school basketball season got underway this past weekend as Rising Sun split a pair of varsity contests against possible sectional foes at the end of the season.

Coach Noel Bostic’s girls dropped its opening encounter at Jac-Cen-Del on Friday, Nov. 9 by a score of 54-37.

However it was the loss of sophomore Shelby Armstrong that was the most noted loss of the weekend.
