The Ohio County Health Department is offering pneumonia shots to Ohio County residents free of charge thanks to a grant form the Ohio County Community Foundation. Pneumonia vaccines are important for those individuals with cardiac disease, respiratory system problems (including recurrent pneumonias) and other chronic illness such as diabetes. It is only necessary to receive two pneumonia vaccines in your lifetime one you reach adulthood and these must be five years apart. People over age 65 need only one pneumonia vaccine.
