The Rising Sun City Council held its annual meeting to receive funding requests for special events for the upcoming year by several organizations. The biggest events financed by city officials are the Navy Bean Festival which requested $107,800 and the Shiner Pride Car Show, requesting $26,465. The Fair Board made a request for $16,200 with $15,000 for the Arts Festival and $15,000 for the annual Catfish Tournament, along with $10,000 for the Rising Sun After Prom and Lions Club Fireworks. The Ohio County Historical Society asked for $6,400 while the America In Bloom Committee and Rising Sun Prom Committee asked for $5,000 and Music on Main $4,000.
