Rising Sun Police Chief David Hewitt gave his annual year end report to city council on Thursday, Jan. 3. The report included a total of 384 arrest and charges including 141 felonies, 128 misdemeanors, 94 infractions, 19 juvenile and two city ordinance violations. A total of 311 case reports were made plus 36 accident reports and a total of 1,142 calls for service. The biggest number of incidents included 44 thefts, 22 breaking and entry and seven burglaries. A series of burglaries in the Burgess Avenue area are still under investigation. Detective Rodney Rimstidt reported another unrelated theft occurred at the home of Jamie Wallace. Anybody with any information should contact the police department at 438-3737. Because of the ongoing nature of the investigations, Rimstidt said he could not release any further information.
