By this date in 1937, the luckier folks who had been forced out of their homes by the flooding Ohio River were cleaning up and moving back in.

Many of the unluckier ones, whose homes were washed away or ruined, lived in tent cities for months.

Though poor, Margie Adams' family was one of the luckier ones: their home on Rising Sun's Second Street was intact.
