The Ohio County Soil and Water Conservation District recently decided to honor three of the members who have passed away.

During one of the board meetings, Katie Schulz decided the members should plant trees at the Ohio County Fairgrounds in memory of deceased members Wade Turner, Paul Banta and Gordon Ramsey.

Nine used vehicles at an Aurora dealership received front-end damage early Sunday, June 26, according to Aurora Police Department.

 Eldon Fancher is healing, but slowly, after another vehicle rear-ended and flipped his tractor earlier this month, said his wife Charlene Fancher.

“He took a real banging inside the tractor, and then it threw him out,” she said.

If neighbor Jennifer Willoughby hadn't heard the screams, the outcome for a woman pinned under a lawnmower in her pond might not have been as good, said Ohio County Sheriff Glen Potts.

Just four months after his April Fools Day marriage to his wife Tabitha in 2011, Aurora Clerk-treasurer Benny Turner was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

The awards were published in the Thursday, June 9, Rising Sun Recorder and Ohio County News. Here are the scholarships, which amount to $443,748 without including the Lilly winner or 21st Century Scholarships:
