A newly endowed award has been established in memory of former Rising Sun graduate and University of Kentucky professor Larry Turner.
The Larry W. Turner Young Extension Professional Award will be given annually to recognize excellent professional activities and accomplishments that contribute to the advancement of the profession; outstanding success in motivating people to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding towards the improvements of agricultural operations; and the personal character of the candidate.
The endowed fund will provide funds to support an annual award given in memory of Dr. Larry Turner. This is a major accomplishment for the ASABE Foundation as it provides consistent funding for the award. It is a noteworthy accomplishment for the University of Kentucky BioSystems and AG Engineering department to have a former faculty member so recognized.
The Turner family is honored and humbled that people who knew and worked with Larry, who remember him and the impact he had on their lives, have chosen to honor him by endowing this award.
Turner was the son of Martha and the late Roy O. Turner.
