The 2012 girls high school soccer season got underway this past week with the Rising Sun Lady Shiners struggling to find offense for first year coach Pete Solly.

Things started slow as Rising Sun opened with 2011 semi-state contender Lawrenceburg and the Lady Tigers romped to an 8-0 win on Tuesday.

Rising Sun Head Softball Coach David Brown congratulates Brittany Camden after her pinch hit triple in the opening game of the Class A Sectional 60 on Monday. Brown was Coach of the Year in the Ohio River Valley conference for his team's 12-0 conference mark and has been named Indiana Girls Softball Coaches Association, District 4 Coach of the Year. The award is voted on by district coaches and Coach Brown's Lady Shiners are  currently 25-1 and ranked #1 in the Indiana Class 1A poll. The Lady Shiner softball team is playing in the semifinals of the 1A Sectional #60 against Hauser on Wednesday. Coach Brown will now have the opportunity to be an All-Star coach in the ICGSA North/ South All-Star games on June 22 & 23 in Carmel.

The 2011 ORVC All-Conference soccer and volleyball teams have been announced as voted on by the coaches of the conference schools.

Nathan Hannan and Alex Oser were named to the all-conference soccer team from Rising Sun.

Ali Bostic, Hannah Crouch and Megan Pickett were named to the all-conference volleyball team.
