Foundation awards, community grants

The Ohio County Community Foundation awarded a Community Grant to the following non-profit organizations whose programs and projects benefit the residents of Ohio County. The grants were awarded during the first grant cycle of 2019.
The First United Church of Christ was awarded a grant in the amount of $1, 175 towards improvements to the back parking lot, landscaping materials for the church grounds and the implementation of a Community Thanksgiving Dinner in honor of the churches 150-year anniversary.
Voices of Indiana Limited was awarded a grant in the amount of $1,250 to provide scholarships for Ohio County youth wishing to participate in the Young Voices program.  
City of Rising Sun was awarded $5,000 towards the purchase of a work truck for the City Street Department.
Rising Sun-Ohio County School Corporation was awarded $5,000 towards the purchase of a floor scrubber to clean each school building’s hallways, cafeteria and gymnasium.
The Ohio County Community Foundation is located at 330 Industrial Access Drive, Rising Sun.

Local non-profit organizations meeting the eligibility criteria and seeking funds for community projects and programs that benefit Ohio County residents may apply and request up to $5,000.
The Ohio County Community Foundation was established in 1998. The mission of the Ohio County Community Foundation is to build, manage and distribute a lasting source of charitable funds for Ohio County. Grants are awarded in the areas of Community Development, Human Services, Education, Health and Cultural Affairs.
Grant applications are currently available at occfrisingsun.com for Grant Cycle II. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Oct. 15, by 3 p.m.
