Taxes mailed; due in July

Ohio County property taxes were mailed Tuesday, April 7, said Ohio County Treasurer Yvonne Walton.

If you do not receive one after adequate time, call the treasurer’s office at 812- 438-2724.

With the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, treasurer employees are in the office, but are not accepting person-to-person transactions. This may change later, said Walton.

Send checks or money orders through the mail, or use the drop box by the main entrance to the courthouse.

You can pay online with a credit card using the information on your bill.

You can also call the treasurer’s office with your credit card information, and the office will process it if you don’t have access to online services. Credit card payments incur fees.

New this year, the Friendship State Bank (Rising Sun branch only) will accept the tax payments.

This will help anyone wishing to pay with cash.

You must have the bill with you. The bank will accept only the amount on the bill.

Personnel cannot answer questions. You should call the treasurer’s office with questions at 812-438-2724.

Taxes ordinarily are due Monday, May 11, but the governor has extended the deadline until Friday, July 10, with no penalty.
