I-275 bridge overlay set between April Fools Day and Halloween
Indiana Department of Transportation officials met with contractor representatives the last week of January at the Seymour District offices to discuss operations for overlaying bridge decks on twin Interstate 275 structures located 1.34 miles north of U.S. Highway 50 at Lawrenceburg. Work is scheduled to begin on or after Monday, April 1.
Dave O’Mara Contractor of North Vernon will hydro-demolish the current driving surface atop the three-span 146-foot-long twin bridges that overpass Action Lane, an access road just north of Belleview Drive, and replace them with 2½-inch-thick concrete deck overlays. This $1,744,288 bridge project includes new concrete bridge rails, approach slabs and guardrail.
Traffic will be restricted to a single lane on both northbound and southbound I-275 bridges during the work. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
The contract completion date is Thursday, Oct. 31.
I-275 has a traffic count of 16,110 vehicles per day.
