‘Crackpole’ caused power outage

A cracked utility pole on Duke Energy’s transmission line to Rising Sun led to an almost five-hour power outage for all of Rising Sun Saturday, Nov. 3. Problem was, the outage wasn’t announced until around 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, leading Ohio County 911 Director Laura Walston to give residents a headsup via the emergency phone notification system. Rising Sun Municipal Utilities Superintendent Shawn Guidice noticed the cracked pole uphill from Ind. 56 just north of the Thuermer Hollow intersection just after noon Friday.
