76-year-old recovers after motorcycle crash
Wayne Smock, 76, is recovering at a Cincinnati hospital after suffering serious injuries when a motorcycle he was operating collided with a semitrailer tractor in Versailles Wednesday, Sept. 4 at about 3:30 p.m.
Smock was test driving a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan from Thornton’s when he failed to yield the right-of-way.
He pulled out from Main Street onto U.S. 50 into the path of a 1999 Peterbilt driven by John Kiste, 49, of North Vernon.
The motorcycle driven by Smock collided with the driver’s side of Kiste’s semi.
Kiste was not injured, but Smock suffered serious injuries and was air cared to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
Investigators say that toxicology reports are pending, and an investigation is under way, but neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected to be factors in the accident.
