Tiffany Clark/The Rising Sun Recorder: Erma Jean Thies, who will turn 88 this month, has a Christmas cactus that has been in her family 96 years. The cactus was gifted to her late aunt while she was sick with typhoid fever in the early 1920s. Thies’ grandma had the cactus after her aunt died. It was then passed on to her mother and is now displayed in Thies’ home.
