Team Heroes for Hope raises money to help fight cancer

Editor:
The topic of cancer is perhaps one that has affected many families in one way or another.
There are multitudes of us locally who have been in this situation or know those who are. Fortunately, there are some of us that try to help those in need and spread awareness to others.
The American Cancer Society, with the help of the local Relay for Life has been one of those who have raised money and donated time and services to those suffering.
This past November, for the third year, Team Heroes for Hope, who are affiliated with Dearborn/Ohio Counties Relay for Life teamed up with the Sons of the American Legion - Squadron 231, Aurora, to raise money for the AMC.
The Third Annual Paddle Auction was held at the Keith Ross American Legion Post in Aurora and raised over $2,000.00.
In the first four months of 2018, the Dearborn/Ohio Counties Relay for Life funded and provided for the following services.
Seven patients and care givers used the Hope Lodge, fourteen were provided lodging at hotels, nine residents had received Personal Health Manager kits, twenty nine had participated in Reach to Recovery, sixty three had received Resource Referral, over 50 had received transportation from cabs, and six wigs and non-wig head coverings were provided.
The Team Heroes for Hope and Squadron 231 - Sons of the American Legion thank all businesses and individuals who donated items for the auction and those who came out to support this project.
Please keep in mind that this event is held annually in the month of November and open to the public. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
