Thanks given for Blues & BBQ

To the Editor,
On behalf of the Ohio County Convention, Tourism and Visitors Commission, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people and organizations who helped make our 2019 Rising Sun Blues & BBQ Festival a big success.
Without the teamwork of everyone’s contribution, this event would not have been the accomplishment it was for Rising Sun/Ohio County.
Presented by Ohio County Tourism and with the assistance of Rising Sun Main Street, we’d like to thank the City of Rising Sun and the City Council for an event grant to help defray some of the financial costs of putting on the event.
Thank you to Mayor Brent Bascom and the City Council, Rising Sun’s Police, Fire and EMS departments, and Paul Bovard and the Rising Sun Street Department. A special thanks to Rising Sun’s project manager, Mike Northcutt, who spent hours before, during and after the event helping to make sure things ran smoothly.
A thank-you goes out to Rising Sun Main Street, their director and board president for their assistance, along with Michelle Otter and the Ohio County Health Department. For the second year, the Aurora Lions’ Club graciously loaned us their stage which was greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Carlotte DePrez, Larry Lorton and Mike Northcutt, who judged our 2019 amateur BBQ cooking team entries.
Our youth volunteers’ help was also greatly appreciated, along with the support of the downtown shop owners, the community, and visitors who come out from several states to support the event.
We greatly appreciated our food/arts/crafts/information vendors having braved the morning’s unfavorable weather conditions to be rewarded with a beautiful afternoon and evening in downtown Rising Sun.
Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank the entire Ohio County Convention, Tourism and Visitors Commission Board of Directors, staff and director.
Seeing individuals and organizations work together to bring events and projects to locals and guests is for the betterment of our town and county. I hope to see more of this in the future.

Jim McDaniel, President
Ohio County Convention, Tourism and Visitors Commission
