From Ohio County Clerk
Due to COVID-19 there are several changes to the primary election. The primary election, with in person voting, will take place on June 2nd. The polling place in town has been moved to the Rising Sun High School. This change will allow greater social distancing for voters as they cast their ballot. The polling places at the Highway Garage and the Bear Branch Fire Department remain the same.
The Ohio County Election Board is strongly encouraging everyone to vote by mail for the Primary Election. To request a mail in ballot, you must first file an application. You can find the application online at Indianavoters.in.gov. Click the box that says “Get Absentee Forms.”
The form is fillable online or you can print it and fill in by hand. Once it is filled out you can either email it to the Ohio County Clerk at Jstegemiller@ohiocountyin.gov. Or print it out and mail it to the Clerk’s Office at the address below. You may also call the Clerk’s Office at 812-438-2610 to request an application. Applications must be received by May 21st.
Ballots must be returned to the Ohio County Clerk’s office by the end of the business day Monday June1st. Ballots not received before this date will NOT by counted. This is by State statute. Request and submit your ballot as soon as possible.
Early voting at the Courthouse has also changed. Early voting will begin on Saturday May 23 and end on June 1 at noon.
Contact the Clerk’s Office if you have questions or need assistance.
